Farewell to Dr Pete Duncan
5 April 2021

We would like to inform you that Dr Pete Duncan has retired as an Associate Professor of Russian Politics and Society at the end of March. Pete writes:
"I came to SSEES in 1988 as a lecturer and in 1996 was promoted to Senior Lecturer (later designated Associate Professor) in Russian Politics and Society. I was head of the Department of Social Sciences twice, chaired the Postgraduate Research Board, headed the centennial celebrations, ran the Post-Soviet Press Group and upgraded our Careers operation. Before the merger with UCL, I was Treasurer and then President of the SSEES branch of the Association of University Teachers (predecessor of UCU). So far while at SSEES I have published seven books. For me, retirement does not mean leaving SSEES. I hope to finish my book on Russian foreign policy and, beyond that, have further research plans. I remain Honorary Co-President of SSEES Alumni and will be supervising my research students for some years, as well as continuing work on the editorial board of the Slavonic and East European Review."
