Please join us for this book launch event of “Георгий Владимов: бремя рыцарства” (Georgii Vladmov: The Burden of Chivalry), hosted by the author Dr Svetlana McMillin, Associate Professor (teaching) in Russian language.
Vladimov guessed many things of which nobody had written - the general Russian disunity, the insurmountable chasms that separate authorities and people, the superiors and the subordinates, the incarcerated and thе jailors, those serving the regime and the ones who refuse to do it, the intelligentsia and the people.
But Vladimov's last prose, his unfinished autobiographical novel ends with the words: "Therefore, the Good does not die without a trace, but makes its circle, breaks through its inexorable way. Аll is not yet lost, ladies and gentlemen! Not only is it not evening yet, but it is not even dusk, and it is too early to bury our hopes”.
He was rarely wrong in his predictions. Let's believe him this time, too”.
