By the end of 2021, the number of media organisations and journalists named “foreign agents” by the Russian authorities had passed 100. Why is this happening and what future could this bring to Russian media?

Фамиль Исмайлов редактор новостей Русской службы Би-би-си. Родился в 1964 году в Азербайджане. Закончил факультет журналистики Московского государственного университета имени М.В. Ломоносова. Работал в советских газетах, был у истоков независимой журналистики в Азербайджане. Работал в посольстве США в Баку. В 1994 году начал работать на Би-би-си, переехал в Лондон.
FAMIL ISMAILOV, News Editor of the BBC Russian Service
Famil Ismailov is a News Editor of the BBC Russian Service. Famil was born in 1964 in Azerbaijan. He graduated from the faculty of journalism at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. He worked in Soviet newspapers and was at the beginning of independent journalism in Azerbaijan. Famil worked the the US Embassy in Baku. He moved to London and began his career at the BBC in 1994.
