The outbreaks of the COVID-19 pandemic have come as an acute, extreme and unprecedented event with long-term striking impacts, forcing governments around the world to scramble with emergency actions including social distancing measures, public awareness programmes, testing and quarantining policies, and income support packages. Weiwen's intended research aims to 1) investigate the facilitators of different categories of NPIs in both developed and emerging economies; and 2) examine the economic impacts of NPIs from a multilevel perspective in both developed and emerging markets by analyzing the effects on stock market volatility across sectors and the effects on the gendered division of labour outside and within the household its implications for gender equality.
This presentation will give the overview of Weiwen's PhD project. She will give a brief introduction of the context of her work, review the relevant literature in the field, based on which she will discuss the research goals and research questions of her work, and give an overview of the main methods of her intended work.
