In this CCSEE event, Davide Furceri, leading author of the latest IMF's Asia and Pacific Regional Economic Outlook will lead the presentation of the research results underlying this report that draws on studies analyzing the impact of COVID-19. The first analytical chapter examines the effect of containment and related policy measures on health outcomes and economic activity. The second analyzes the distributional impact of the crisis and policies to mitigate these effects. Both chapters cover a broader sample of economies, including European countries. The report is based upon these two papers by the presenters, “The Effect of Containment Measures on the COVID-19 Pandemic” and “A Vicious Cycle: How Pandemics Lead to Economic Despair and Social Unrest”. A Q&A and discussion session will follow.

Registration is free but essential via Zoom.
