Rally for Academic Freedom

We here at The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies believe, above all else, in the principle of academic freedom. This pillar of academia is currently under threat in Central and Eastern Europe and we wish to stand in solidarity with our colleagues and pledge our support to their Universities. An attack on academic freedom anywhere is an attack on it everywhere.

We invite all those who too believe in the importance of academic independence, to join us in standing together with our partners that find this inalienable right under attack. We will meet in the main UCL Quad, in front of the Portico, where there will be speeches from leading UCL Academics.
