Professor Timothy Synder (Yale University) Timothy Synder is Bird White Housum Professor of History at Yale University and the author of Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin.  His new book Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning will be published by Bodley Head in September.
