Mirkena Shqarri-Palluqi

Mirkena Shqarri-Palluqi has been teaching Albanian to adult students of all levels since 2006. She joined SSEES in 2009 and throughout her years of teaching in SSEES she has taught all levels, ranging from complete beginners to the highest level of fluency. 

Alongside SSEES, she also worked as the Albanian language trainer for FCO teaching Albanian to Foreign Service Diplomats, which she then left to start a career with the US Embassy London.  

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguist and has worked for them as an examiner for FCO C1 exams and a marker for candidates doing a Diploma in Public Service Interpreting for the Albanian language. 

She is an experienced linguist doing translation/ interpreting/ proofreading/ transcribing/ voice overs etc. From time to time, she is approached to be an Albanian Language Expert by courts or solicitors/ requiring information on Albanian/ English language level of their clients or the dialect they speak. 

She has a degree from the University of Foreign Languages, Tirana Albania and a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Bristol University.
