Martha Otwinowski - IMESS Politics and Security 2012-14

I work at a non-profit organisation in Berlin called Clean Energy Wire. As Journalism Network Manager, I develop network strategies for international journalists covering energy and climate change. We want to facilitate a global, informed public debate on the issue and accelerate the momentum towards an international energy transition. 

I was an IMESS student between 2012-14 within the Politics and Security track, spending the second year of my course at the University of Helsinki. The programme allowed me to grow academically as well as personally. I was able to develop my research interests through both years of IMESS, and my Masters thesis on media narratives on crisis events – Polish press coverage of the early days of the Ukraine crisis – has opened doors for me. Most importantly, I have met so many great people through IMESS, and some of my best friends.
