Carmen Raris

Carmen teaches Romanian language at all levels. Additionally, she teaches Romanian at other institutions in London.  

Previously, she taught Romanian as a foreign language at the University of Bucharest and at International House of Bucharest. She has also worked as a Romanian linguistic consultant for several tech companies interested in natural language processing.  

Education 

  • University of Bucharest, Faculty of Letters 
  • PhD. in Philology – 2016 
  • Master of Arts – Advanced Linguistic Studies – 2011 
  • Bachelor of Arts in Philology (Romanian and French) – 2009 
  • She also held a scholarship from the Romanian Academy in 2014-2015. 

During her linguistic studies, she has also attended several editions of EGG Summer School.  Carmen is mostly interested in Romanian’s phonetic and phonology, which she has deeply studied in her PhD. thesis.  Other areas of interest are language acquisition and language teaching.
