UCL Excellence Fellows 2010-2011.
Dr Jennifer Bizley
Dr Jennifer Bizley's research focuses on the neural basis of auditory perception, and on how vision can influence both auditory perception, and neural activity in auditory cortex. Dr Bizley joined the Ear Institute in 2011 as a UCL Excellence fellow and Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow, from the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford. She was subsequently awarded a Wellcome Trust / Royal Society Sir Henry Dale Fellowship.
Dr Christian Henneberger
Dr Christian Henneberger's research interests focussed on astrocyte-neuron communication. He undertook his Excellence Fellowship in the Institute of Neurology between 2011 and 2013, and is now an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Cellular Neurosciences, University of Bonn.
Dr Sonja Hofer
Dr Sonja Hofer undertook her Excellence Fellowship in the Division of Biosciences, studying cortical information processing and circuit mechanisms of plasticity. During this time she was awarded a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellowship to establish her independent research group. In 2013 Dr Hofer left UCL to take up Assistant Professorship in Neuroscience at the Biozentrum, University of Basel, Switzerland.
Dr Jason Rihel
Dr Jason Rihel joined the Division of Biosciences in March 2012 as a UCL Excellence Fellow after a postdoctoral fellowship in Dr Alex Schier's lab at Harvard University. His laboratory studies the genes and neurons that regulate sleep and arousal, using zebrafish as a model system. Dr Rihel has also been awarded a 5 year Starting Grant from the European Research Council.
