Meet your new Lead Safety Advisor

30 October 2023

Lead Safety Advisors work closely with departments to build effective safety management systems, make improvements to the safety culture and implement the T100 programme.

Departments have new assigned Lead Safety Advisors

To help you facilitate the T100 programme, all UCL departments have a dedicated Lead Safety Advisor assigned to them. To ensure the level of effort and complexity of the T100 programme is in line with the risks faced by individual departments, every department has been categorised as either High Hazard or Low Hazard.

The Lead Safety Advisor will work with Departmental Safety Officers, line managers and other specialist safety roles to help build an effective safety management system, make improvements to the safety culture and implement the T100 programme within the departments.

Here are some activities your Lead Safety Advisor may be involved in

  • Provide support and guidance with Target 100 programme (T100).
  • Respond to queries in the safety@ucl.ac.uk mailbox.
  • Attend Departmental Safety Committee meetings.
  • Provide support and guidance to help onboard newly appointed Departmental Safety Officers.
  • Assist with workplace inspections and audits.
  • Advise departments of the appropriate Safety Training.
  • Guidance on investigating accidents.
