New House of Lords report published, with contributions by Professor David Alexander

The IRDR's Professor Alexander contributes towards new House of Lords' publication, while submissions to his journal reach 10,000.

At the end of November, Professor Alexander completed ten months as Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords Select Committee on Risk Assessment and Risk Planning. On 3rd December, the committee’s report was published* and can be downloaded here.

In the meantime, Professor Alexander has been working with the National Preparedness Commission by providing input to the consultative exercise on the forthcoming revision of the UK Civil Contingencies Act. In the new year he will begin a new position as a member of two committees convened by the UK Cabinet Office to review the National Security Risk Assessment.

David Alexander is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction, published by Elsevier. The journal is in its tenth year. Since it was founded in 2012 it has received more than 10,000 manuscripts to be evaluated for publication. New volumes now appear once every six weeks. Professor Alexander manages a staff of eight associate editors. The journal is on track to have a submission rate of more than 2,400 manuscripts for the year 2021 and it at the top of journal classifications in its field.
