Title: Blame, marginalisation and stigma in medical language and terminology

Abstract
This seminar will explore the ways in which the language and terminology of health and illness can unintentionally marginalise, blame and stigmatise.
The session will be interactive, with presentation of examples from the sexual health field and discussion on how to re-word and re-frame our language to reduce potential harm.
Speaker biography
Dr Julia Bailey is a sexual health doctor, researcher and facilitator at University College London, with a passion for social science in medicine and communication in all of its forms.
