QHRN Conference 2019

General

For whom is this conference?

The conference is open to students, researchers, health professionals and others interested in qualitative research and issues around qualitative health research in a changing world.

Where and when is the conference?

The conference will be held on Friday March 22 2019 at Radisson Blu Portman hotel, 22 Portman Square, Marylebone, London W1H 7BG.

Where and when are the pre-conference workshops?

The pre-conference workshops will be held on Thursday 21 March at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, 22 Portman Square, Marylebone, London, W1H 7BG. 

What time does the conference begin and end?

The conference will open for registration at 08:30 on Friday 22 March. The first presentation will begin at 09:15. The conference ends at 17:00. The pre-conference workshops will begin at 10:00 and finish at 16:00 on Thursday 21 March.

Registration

How do I register for conference?

Registration will open on Friday 16 November. Please click here to register you place.

Is there early bird registration for the conference?

Yes, Early bird rates for attendees are £75.00. Early Bird registration is open until Friday 25 January 2018.

How much is general registration?

Regular conference rates are £90.00.

Is there a discounted registration rate for students?

Yes, students are entitled to a 15% discount. A copy of their student card will need to be provided to cheryl@compleatconference.co.uk in return for a booking code which will need to be inserted at time of booking.

What’s included in the cost of conference?

The registration fee includes entrance to the conference as well as lunch and refreshments during coffee breaks.

Are there any bursaries available?

Applications for bursaries are now closed.

Can I transfer my registration to another person?

Yes. You will need to contact Compleat Conference at cheryl@compleatconference.co.uk with the name of the original attendee and the individual replacing him/her.

Can I get a refund if I can longer attend after registering?

Please refer to the registration terms and conditions which outline the cancellation policy.

Can I register a group?

Yes, the online registration system allows you to register multiple people to one booking.

How can I pay for my conference registration?

Our online system accepts payment via debit and credit card, or by invoice.

When does general registration close online?

Online registrations will only close on Tuesday 19 March or before if the event becomes sold out.

Can I pay onsite?

We discourage this where possible but delegates are able to register Onsite. You will need to complete a form at the registration area pay immediately via credit card. An invoice cannot be provided at this stage.

Programme

What is the schedule for the conference?

The full schedule will be available online in January. Please come back to this website for details.

Can I choose to attend only some of the sessions/events?

We want you to make the best use of your time with us over the conference, so we encourage attending as much as you can. However, your attendance at sessions and/or events is at your discretion.

Transportation & Accommodation

How do I get to the conference venue?
BY AIR: The closest International airports are London City, London Heathrow, London Gatwick and London Stansted, You can travel from the airports into central London by either rail or coach.

BY RAIL: The venue is a about 15 minute walk from Marylebone mainline railway station, and is easily accessible by underground from other national and international rail terminals. The closest underground stations are Marble Arch on the Central Line (5 minute walk) and Bond Street on the Central and Jubilee Line (ten minute walk).

BY CAR: The hotel’s location in London’s West End, near Oxford Street, makes it easily accessible via M40, M1 and M25. There is no free parking onsite but an NCP car park is located directly beneath the hotel. Please click here for charges.

Where do I stay while attending the conference?
A number of rooms have been reserved at the Radisson Blu Portman for conference delegates. These rooms are available for £275 per night (based on single occupancy – supplement for double occupancy is £15.00 per room per night), including breakfast. Credit card details are required to guarantee the booking; reservations can be cancelled on a free of charge basis up to 7 days prior to arrival.

There are also a number of other hotels nearby the conference venue at varying price points.

Food

What food is provided?

Lunch and refreshments are provided.

What if I have a food allergy/intolerance of some sort?

Please be sure to include information about your allergies and/or intolerances when you complete your online registration, so that we can be sure to notify the venue of any dietary requirements. We will not be able to honour your requests if they are not included in your registration.

Accessibility

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

Yes, all conference rooms are easily accessible by wheelchair.

Is there provision for those with audio impairment?

Unfortunately the venue isn’t equipped with induction loop systems for the hearing impaired.

Accommodation 

Accommodation can be booked using the Convenus accommodation service. Alternatively, QHRN have located two other options (hub by Premier Inn, Goodge Street, London or YHA London, Oxford Street)
