Careers Week: How to Stay One Step Ahead
21 May 2021, 5:30 pm–7:00 pm
In this closing keynote conversation of Careers Week, we are honoured to welcome Ms Shawnee Delaney to share with us her inspiring journey from a BA in Political Science, M.A. in International Policy Studies with a Specialization in Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Proliferation, and a M.S. in Cyber Security to surviving a kidnap attempt when Al-Qaeda issued a fatwa against female intelligence officers. We will explore the lessons that she draws from all these experiences in overcoming challenges, creating new opportunities, and always staying one step ahead in work and life.

Shawnee Delaney
Shawnee, a decorated Intelligence Officer and licensed private investigator, is the founder and CEO of Vaillance Group. As a certified Case Officer and alumnus of "The Farm", the CIA’s iconic training facility and having spent a decade with the Defence Intelligence Agency conducting clandestine Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operations all over the world, Shawnee Delaney has always had to stay one step ahead. She served four combat zone tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as a Case Officer and Detachment Chief and served as a Supervisory Branch Chief in Europe. After leaving DIA, Shawnee supported the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in the protection of U.S. critical infrastructure and industrial control systems for the Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT). Shawnee has built Insider Threat programs for major Fortune 500 companies such as Uber and Merck. She is also a doting mother of three very talkative and strong-willed children.
