Careers Week: Alumni Panel - International Careers
18 May 2021, 5:00 pm–6:00 pm
Many of you may have chosen to study political science as you dream of joining the UN, the Foreign Service or other international bodies, yet we often underestimate the huge variety of positions in these organisations. You might be wondering how our alumni have succeeded in building careers in such organisations and what advice they might have for those starting out today. Join us for a fascinating discussion to learn more about the pathways some of our alumni have taken into the international system and foreign service. We will be joined by Nadia Anna Mandl (MSc IPP, 2015-2016) who has held positions as a Blue Book Trainee in the European Commission Humanitarian Aid Office, a policy advisor in the UK Ministry of Justice, and is currently a Human Rights Officer at the UK Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office; Iris Baño Romero (MSc GGE, 2015-2016), a communications consultant currently working as a Senior Communications Consultant & Public Affairs Assistant in UNHCR Spain; and Ariane Maixandeau (MSc Security Studies, 2016-2017), who has had experience working with the WHO, UN-OCHA, Caritas in Lebanon, and is currently an Associate Reporting Officer with UNHCR in Kassala, Sudan.
