Careers Week: Alumni Panel - Civil Service & Local Government

There are a myriad of roles and career opportunities in Civil Service and Local Government, with quite unique application process for the Fast Stream or Civil Service positions. Many Department of Political Science Alumni have gone on to successful careers in these roles but how have they managed to get there? Join us for an interesting and informative panel with a really varied range of alumni who currently work in the Civil Service or Local Government. Sophie Iliffe (MSC DCP, 2016-2017) has worked with the Miscarriages of Justice Project, Louise Ellman MP and is currently a Cabinet Support Officer at Enfield Council. Sana Chaudhry (BA Geography, 2012-2015) has recently joined the Department of Trade as a policy advisor following working as an Intelligence Analyst in Risk Advisory at Deloittes and interning at both the Council of Europe and the UN. Ahmed Iqbal (MSc Security Studies, 2017-2018) has held positions in the Foreign & Commonwealth Development Office, the Department of Transport, the Department of Trade, and is currently the Head of European Engagement Strategy for the Department of Business. Energy & Industrial Strategy. Peaches-Brown Senior (MSc GGE, 2019-2020) is currently a Media Executive at the Department of Health and Social Care following completing an internship with the Government Communications Service.
