Studying for a PhD at the School of Pharmacy is an immensely rewarding experience
In addition to an advanced hypothesis driven research project yielding top flight publications which change thinking in their chosen fields, students also acquire generic and transferable skills while undertaking their PhD course, such as scientific presentation and time management. Students have ample opportunities to practice networking with their peer group both within the school and within the wider UCL community. Our student's work typically falls within the remit of one or more Research Clusters. Cluster pages will inform you about staff, case studies, news and events in key areas of research. Self-funded students can complete an expression of interest form to match your research interests with the appropriate staff.
The PhD Training Programme includes the School of Pharmacy run short courses that are specifically designed for our students. In addition to lectures and workshops on generic skills, this programme include a series of Expert Lectures in which various experimental techniques are presented and their application discussed. Attending these lectures allows students to collect Research Skills Points. In addition, all PhD students are required to attend the PhD Research Day, which take place twice a year, usually in April and in September.
