Research summary
Formulation, Characterization and evaluation of dermatological drug delivery systems using Quality By Design (QbD) approach.
Bioequivalent In vitro studies of topical formulations using static Franz diffusion cells,
Investigation of API-excipient and API-membrane interactions,
Material characterisation using microscopy, rheology, DSC, XRD and microbiological testing. Physicochemical characterisation of Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP) for Clinical Trials.
Teaching summary
Dr Sheikh teaches at Courses B, C, D and F of the MPharm Curriculum. His main teaching invovles industrial pharmacy including Extemporaneous Dispensing (Course B), Emulsions and Suspensions (Course C), Clinical Trials (Course D and Option F1) and Formulation of Creams (Project Option F2).
Dr Sheikh also teaches on a post graduate course (Qualified Person-Q3P) to the trainees from various UK NHS trusts and the Pharmaceutical companies.

Biography
Dr Sheikh read Pharmacy at the University of the Punjab, Pakistan, undertook MPharm at the Univeristy Sains Malaysia, and obtained PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.He has previously worked as an academic at the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia, for 9 years, an Industrial Pharmacist at the Prime Pharmaceuticals for 3 years and a Locum pharmacist at the Pure Pharmacy, Malaysia, for 5 years.
Dr Sheikh is currently working as a Teaching Fellow in the Department of Pharmaceutics and is the Director of the Q3P Course at the UCL School of Pharmacy.
