Electonic Plant Information Centre (ePIC)
Developed by The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, this database allows you to search or cross search the International Plant Names Index, the Kew Record of Taxonomic Literature, the Survey of Economic Plants for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and the Living Collection. A useful links page to non-Kew websites is also provided. At present, all the information is text-based but the aim is to add images and documents. No password needed.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States
Part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the NIH is the U.S. Government's medical research agency comprising 27 separate institutes and centers.

ChemDex
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Sheffield host this international directory of chemistry. The directory currently includes over 7,000 weblinks in various categories including compounds and molecules. A search feature has been included to make the use of this gateway easier.

ChemWeb
This gateway offers registered users journal abstracts, databases and a chemistry pre-print server. Anyone in chemical research or chemical industry will also find the news service, book reviews, job adverts and links list useful.

PubChem
Provides information on the biological activities of small molecules. It is a component of NIH's Molecular Libraries Roadmap Initiative.
PubChem is organized as three linked databases within the NCBI's Entrez information retrieval system. These are PubChem Substance, PubChem Compound, and PubChem BioAssay. PubChem also provides a fast chemical structure similarity search tool.

Ensembl Genome Browser
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and EMBL-EBI run this joint software project aimed at producing and maintaining automatic annotations on eukaryotic genomes. Data are available on the human, mouse, zebra, fish, mosquito, rat and fruitfly genomes. Help and species-specific documentation is provided.

HIV InSite
Developed by the University of California in San Francisco, HIV InSite provides up-to-date information about the prevention, policy and treatment of HIV including antiretrovial management.

International Cancer Research Portfolio (ICRP)
Cancer research funders from across the globe have launched a partnership to classify their cancer research portfolios using the Common Scientific Outline (CSO). Based on this classification system, the ICRP allows users to search, browse and sort current cancer research by type of cancer, area of research or funding organisation.

Nucleic Acid Database (NDB)
The NDB assembles and distributes structural information about nucleic acids.

The Worldwide Protein Data Bank (wwPDB)
The single worldwide repository for the processing and distribution of 3-D biological macromolecular structure data.
