The UCL European Institute Advisory Board, chaired by Lord Anderson of Ipswich, is comprised of senior professionals with careers in national and EU politics, the media, universities, think tanks and cultural institutes. It provides strategic advice and guidance to the UCL European Institute and helps extend the reach of UCL's ideas and expertise on Europe.

The appointment builds on UCL European Institute’s close collaboration with the Delegation of the EU to the United Kingdom, recently hosting the Ambassador to launch Lost & Found: Mapping European Literary London and to participate in an inaugural EU-UK Youth Gathering, convened by the Delegation, and hosted by UCL.

Lord Anderson of Ipswich KC, Chair of the European Institute Advisory Board said: “I am delighted the Ambassador has agreed to join the UCL European Institute Advisory Board. He will bring unique insights from a career at the highest levels of EU diplomacy, and can make an important contribution to enhancing the reach and relevance of UCL’s outstanding scholarship on Europe”.

H.E. Pedro Serrano, EU Ambassador to the United Kingdom said: “Academic cooperation has a critical role to play in supporting and informing EU-UK relations. I am delighted to join the Advisory Board of UCL European Institute, a hub for research, education and engagement on Europe at one of the country’s leading universities, and look forward to helping to guide its future direction”.

Dr Uta Staiger, Executive Director of the European Institute said: “UCL is an outstanding hub for the study of Europe and the EU, with over 300 academics working on Europe. The European Institute Advisory Board plays a critical role in helping to guide our priorities, and to extend the reach and relevance of our work. We are honoured that the Ambassador will be joining this group, and we look forward to welcoming him to his first meeting later this month.”
