Security strike action next week: more information

13 July 2023

Some UCL security staff will be striking on 18, 19, 20, 21 July and again on 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 July.

UCL buildings will remain open as usual. We will be working hard to ensure the continued safety of our community and we do not anticipate that the security of UCL’s campus will be affected. Please remember to keep your UCL ID card with you in order to gain access to buildings.

During the strike you might see some activity on campus, such as possible picket lines outside some buildings. Picketers might be holding signs or handing out leaflets, and you can talk to them and ask questions if you wish. They might ask you not to cross their picket line, but they are not allowed to prevent you from entering the building.

Those picketing cannot intimidate anyone choosing to cross the picket line, and any visitors will be expected to comply with UCL’s Code of Conduct for Visitors. If you experience any inappropriate behaviour please inform the team at estates.securitysystems@ucl.ac.uk or by calling 37111 (02076797111). Staff and students can also visit Report and Support to report. You can also get in touch with UCL’s Security team at the touch of a button by downloading UCL’s Safezone app – find out more.
