London moves to Tier 2 (high) COVID-19 alert

15 October 2020

Additional restrictions come into place from 16 October for the London area, as the Government has announced a move to a Tier 2 (high) alert level for COVID-19.

The additional restrictions focus on the mixing of households in indoor spaces. The Government has confirmed that universities and schools should remain open and the new restrictions do not affect UCL’s current teaching arrangements.

We are continuing with a blended approach and ensuring that the campus is safe for those who need to use it. This is kept under constant review. Our plan continues to be focused on reducing the total number of people using UCL, which will allow staff and students using campus to do so safely and ensure that we have ample space available for social distancing. Together, we are achieving this with, on average, 1,500 staff and students using the site each day.

Students should be aware that, from midnight on Friday 16 October, there should be no mixing of households in indoor spaces.
