London moves into Tier 3 restrictions, 16 December 2020

16 December 2020

From Wednesday 16 December, London moves into Tier 3 (Very High Alert) – please ensure that you’re aware of additional restrictions and continue to follow Government guidance.

UCL Portico

Tier 3 restrictions focus mainly on the mixing of households, with no mixing permitted indoors or outdoors (apart from those in support bubbles), and a maximum of six in some outdoor public places. Find out more on the UK Government website.

Please do continue to follow social distancing and hygiene guidelines, and behave with respect and consideration to others at all times. All members of our community should follow the guidance set out UCL’s Community Commitment to Protect Each Other.

It is expected that Tier 3 restrictions will continue to apply during UCL’s winter break, although you may choose to form a Christmas bubble between 23 December and 27 December 2020. Information for students in UCL halls, including support available over the winter break and what the Christmas restrictions mean for them, is available on the Accommodation website.

Universities and educational settings are allowed to stay open under Tier 3, and so some facilities will remain open, and support services will still be available for students who are staying in London over the winter break. Find out what will be running on the UCL Students webpages.

Please remember that official guidance may change at short notice and keep checking the UK Government website for the latest information.
