Tom Rowson takes on TOPS Programme Director role full time

29 November 2018

It has been announced that Tom Rowson will become the full time Transforming Our Professional Services (TOPS) Programme Director from the beginning of January.

Tom Rowson takes on TOPS Programme Director role

Tom had taken on this role part time alongside his Director of Planning role, but from January 2019 he will be seconded to the TOPS Programme Director role until July 2020. In the next couple of weeks, we will be advertising for an interim Director of Planning and, once appointed, Tom and the Planning Team will work closely with them to ensure a smooth transition.

Since Council approved the business case for TOPS in July 2018, TOPS has started to implement a range of projects ensuring that colleagues from across UCL are involved in the work, and importantly, the co-design of future services. Tom’s secondment coincides with this implementation stage, giving additional UCL staff support to such an important programme of work. Tom’s time as Director of Planning gives him a broad view of services across UCL which will be invaluable in leading TOPS.

So far, we have launched UniTemps and the UCL Year Planner, and work is progressing to procure and implement a new IT system to support more effective staff recruitment. The new Professional Services Hub at St Martin’s Le Grand is on track to launch in early 2019, which is aimed at improving service. Our first service transformation project has now started – focussing on Finance – and we continue to be build more Communities of Practice and Career Pathways for professional services staff.

If you would like to find out more about TOPS, our progress and how to get involved, you can find more detail on the website along with contact details if you’d like to get in touch.
