UCL benefits update
5 November 2015
Following on from our benefits survey last year this is a reminder on recent changes to our employee benefits and an update on some forthcoming developments.
Last year UCL launched a new voluntary healthcare scheme, allowing employees to take advantage of highly discounted medical insurance, should they wish to do so. The scheme offers employees and their dependents and/or family prompt access to eligible private medical treatment. AXA PPP will now be offering UCL staff another limited opportunity to join the Premier and Key plans on a Medical History Disregarded basis. This means that if you have a historical medical condition you may still be covered so long as you do not have any planned treatment. More details about the window for the scheme will follow very shortly.
A reminder that this year we have also introduced dental and health cash plans which were popular requests from staff. These plans allow money to be claimed back (up to defined limits) for dental and/or health treatment, in exchange for a regular monthly payment. These schemes, in common with many of our benefits, do not incur cost to UCL but allow staff to benefit from discounted rates.
Moving forward two of the most popular requests from the benefits survey were the ability to purchase additional annual leave and a tax efficient scheme of car leasing, both via salary deductions. We will introduce both these schemes within the next twelve months and more details will follow in due course.
