Expansion of student accommodation at John Dodgson House

6 February 2014

One of UCL's student residences, John Dodgson House, opened the doors of its newly-renovated building late last year.

Situated across from St Pancras International/King's Cross stations, John Dodgson House offers a very attractive option for UCL students in an increasingly vibrant part of London, only a short walk away from the Bloomsbury campus.

UCL Estates' development of the building successfully delivered 49 new bedrooms across two new floors and included refurbishment to elements of the existing six floors.

The challenging project required closure of the building for one year in order to carry out intrusive construction work.

This included the integration of an independent structural frame to support the new roof extension, and the replacement of the existing lift, which was also extended by two floors.

John Dodgson House is an example of how excellent team work across Estates and the professional consultancy team has successfully transformed a student residence. It has delivered improved facilities for students within extremely tight timescales and budget restraints.
