Change to procedure for distribution of UCL staff computer registration slips

6 February 2014

From Monday 10 February 2014 Information Services Division will no longer post out staff registrations slips containing usernames and passwords, via the internal post.

ISD Slips will need to be collected by the user from the Security Office in the Andrew Huxley Building

We have worked closely with UCL Estates (Security), to enable new starters to pick up their slips when they collect their UCL ID Cards from the Andrew Huxley Building.

This change aims to increase security and reduce the likelihood of slips being mislaid or collected by an unauthorised individual.

The change will apply to all staff regardless of their association (e.g. visitors registered via the Services System, staff on UCL payroll).  We hope this will ensure only the intended recipient receives their login details and reduce the risk of sensitive information being intercepted by third parties.

  • Staff will be asked to bring one form of personal identification (e.g. bank card, driving licence, etc.).
  • Slips will be kept for a period of two months after start date and then confidentially disposed of.
  • For bulk requests in the Services System (e.g. user registrations required for visiting students) one off special arrangements can be made prior to submission by emailing Service Desk Account Administration email address userservices@ucl.ac.uk.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the ISD Service Desk.
