Any volunteers?

21 September 2004

Students who want to find out about getting involved with a community project during their time at UCL, or who would like to know more about gap year travel and volunteering, can get their questions answered at the UCL Volunteering and Gap Year Fair 2004.

There will be over 40 stalls to choose from, where students curious about what is available but unsure about the commitment involved can talk about all their volunteering and gap year options. A range of what is on offer includes local volunteering projects, gap year and travel opportunities, UCL Union Volunteering Society, international volunteering and running your own community action project.

UCL student advisor and Voluntary Services Coordinator John Braime said: "We're really pleased to be working with UCL Careers Service on what should be a great event, enabling students to speak to staff from a wide variety of volunteer and gap year organisations."

Volunteering isn't just about helping others - recent research has shown that UCL student volunteers develop useful skills and feel at an advantage when it comes to pursuing their post-University careers.

The UCL Volunteering and Gap Year Fair 2004 takes place on: Monday 4th October,  12-3 pm in the North and South Cloisters, Wilkins Building.
