Chemical Engineer in the Classroom session with Halan Mohamed
30 March 2021
On the 23 March, CNIE’s PhD student Halan Mohamed ran a remote workshop for a group of George Mitchell School year 10 students. This was part of UCL Chemical Engineering’s “Chemical Engineer in the Classroom” outreach initiative to continue engagement with school children during the coronavirus pandemic. Halan presented what chemical engineering and nature-inspired chemical engineering are, with the help of the example of her research on nature-inspired membranes for water purification. The workshop concluded with a simple experiment demonstrating the application of membranes for the separation of oil-water emulsions.
