Schools and Teachers

UCL Chemical Engineering is committed to engaging and inspiring the young engineers of the future.

We offer a number of activities to schools, linked both to the National Curriculum and to the exciting research undertaken at the University. We are happy to visit schools but can also host small school groups in order to give them an experience of University.

You can:

  • arrange for one of our staff to speak at your school
  • bring a party of pupils to visit the department

Our school visits cover a wide variety of topics from Chemical Engineering research to careers advice and how to apply to university to study STEM subjects.

Chemical Engineering Centenary Taster Events

As part of our department centenary celebrations we are holding a series of taster lectures and a taster day for year 12 students who are interested in Chemical Engineering and related topics.

Please visit our centenary webpage for full information.

Chemical Engineer in the Classroom

Our researchers are available to ‘meet’ with your class online during a virtual lesson or when you are back in the classroom. Departmental PhD students and Research Fellows can present information about their research and answer questions relating to their field of study.  We can make links to your curriculum content and talk to your class about university subjects and careers in engineering.

Take a look at our booklet below which details our researchers and their specialist areas:

Contact the outreach team to discuss your requirements and book a virtual session.
