Mr Mohammed Jasim is the former Director of Mosul University Libraries. With support from BISI, he has a Visiting Scholarship at the British Library between 26 June and 26 July 2019.
The central library Mosul University was destroyed during the ISIS/Daesh occupation of the city in 2014–17. While UNDP is reconstructing the building itself, Mohammed is developing a management plan for the library. During his time in the UK, he will research digitization and documentation of the surviving collection, acquisition strategies, and staff training. This placement represents a new level of collaboration between British and Iraqi universities and cultural institutions.
