Research summary
We are focusing on cognitive and brain structural and functional abnormalities in the early stages of schizophrenia, and how these impact on clinical features and social outcome. We aim to characterise patient subtypes which will allow us to predict their outcome several years later. This will allow the development of interventions aimed at improving outcome to be instigated at the earliest possible time. Additional work has begun to collect blood from our well charcterised patients in order to look for associations between endophenotypes and SNPs.
