UCL forging closer big data links with Japan
17 March 2015

Patrick Wolfe, executive director of UCL's Big Data
Institute has recently returned from Japan, where he was working on developing
closer links between UCL and Japanese institutions.
He travelled as part of the 'Innovation is GREAT' campaign, which showcases British R&D and innovation around the world, to establish and strengthen overseas partnerships with the UK. The trip follows a visit by senior Japanese data scientists to UCL in November.
As well as attending academic workshops, Wolfe signed two memoranda of agreement between UCL and Japanese institutions: the Institute of Statistical Mathematics and the National Institute of Informatics. These agreements deepen existing links between the institutions and UCL, and include collaborative contacts and staff exchanges for joint research.
