The event will begin with a showing of Susan Pyne’s 15 min talk, Celebrating Women Astronomers:

"When one thinks of a famous astronomer of the past, chances are that one will come up with someone white and male. But numerous women astronomers made very important breakthroughs throughout the 20th century. In this talk, I will celebrate three pioneering women astronomers who all battled prejudice and made personal sacrifices to achieve their scientific goals and change the course of modern astronomy.”

Followed by a live Q&A and discussion featuring guest speakers.

Dr Chiara Circosta (UCL researcher and chair of UCL Astrophysics Outreach Committee)

Susan Pyne (UCL researcher and author of Astronomy on Tap presentation which inspired tonight's event)

Abbie Bray (UCL PhD research student and Lead Co-ordinator of the Women in Physics group UCL)

Prof Hiranya Peiris (UCL Professor and winner of multiple awards including most recently the 2021: Eddington Medal, Royal Astronomical Society, U.K)
