UCL-BIIG launch event

It was standing room only at the UCL BIIG - BioImage Interest Group - launch event on October 13th. 70 attendees gathered in person and online to inaugurate the new initiative. UCL BIIG aims to connect users and experts from different backgrounds who are interested in biological and biomedical image acquisition and analysis, with the goal of sharing knowledge and fostering discussion and collaborations in an informal setting.

Giulia Paci, one of the UCL-BIIG organisers, briefly introduced the new Group. This was followed by lively discussions and an excellent talk by Shu En Lim, a Wellcome Optical Biology PhD student in the Mao lab, who compared the Leica DIVE and Nikon SoRa systems to address mechanisms of wound healing in tissues using laser ablation. After the talk, attendees had refreshments and an opportunity to network.

UCL BIIG meetings are held monthly in the LMCB Seminar Room and on Zoom,  every second Friday of the month with talks at 12-1 pm, followed by refreshments.

For more information or if you’re interested in giving a talk contact us at: bioimage-organisers@live.ucl.ac.uk. At each meeting, we host two speakers for short (15 min) and informal presentations, allowing plenty of time for discussion. We welcome work-in-progress presentations and highly encourage the participation of early-career researchers.

Our next meeting is on November 10, we hope to see you there!
