Professor Ziheng Yang FRS is R A Fisher Chair of Statistical Genetics in the Research Department of Genetics, Evolution & Environment (UCL Division of Biosciences).

Professor Ziheng Yang has made incomparable contributions to the field of evolutionary biology. His unique perspectives and innovative methodologies serve as the backbone for nearly all research that employs genetic data to elucidate topics such as species divergence, adaptation, and gene flow. Ziheng's ground-breaking statistical models and techniques for analysing sequence data have given rise to a plethora of new tools, which now form the fundamental basis of the standard toolkit in molecular evolutionary biology.
