Equity Lead (Religion and Beliefs) - Sudaxshina Murdan

Meet our Equity (Religion and Beliefs) Lead, Sudaxshina Murdan.

I am a Reader / Associate Professor in Pharmaceutics at the UCL School of Pharmacy (SOP), and the Lead for the SOP EDI Community Action Group.

My personal and practising experience of Hinduism, Islam and Christianity, having been born and raised in one, ‘adopted’ into another by my best friend’s family and marrying into another has made me realise how having close friends and family of different faiths fosters deeper knowledge, mutual understanding and respect for diverse faiths.

My vision is that UCL staff and students of all religions and beliefs, and none, are able to express and practise their beliefs, and engage with others about the latter’s faiths, without fear of causing offence or appearing ignorant or prejudiced or racist.  The more we engage, the easier it becomes.  A greater understanding on everyone’s part will help us on our journey to achieving greater equality and inclusiveness.
