New dates available for library skills training sessions

3 December 2021

Dates through to the end of Term 2 are now available for our popular scheduled programme of library skills training sessions.

Most sessions are offered online but in Term 2 we’ll be running selected face to face sessions too. To view our programme and to book a place please see our calendar of events.

Sessions are open to all UCL students and staff, and to NHS staff at UCL affiliated Trusts, and include:

  • Library skills essentials: Introductory sessions for anyone new to using UCL’s libraries.
  • Searching for information: Literature search skills from basic principles through to advanced searching for your systematic review, as well as sessions on searching particular library databases.
  • Evaluating information: Discover techniques for thinking critically about the material you read and whether you should use it to inform your academic work, or delve into the world of bibliometrics to understand how citation metrics can be useful to inform research.
  • Referencing and managing information: Not sure how to cite references in your assignment? Want to get more out of reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley or Zotrero? Come along to an introductory or questions and answers session.

If you prefer to develop your skills independently and at your own pace, we have lots of online guidance, videos and tutorials; see our Training and Support pages.
