UCL Press Exhibition

27 January 2020

We are celebrating the success of UCL Press this term with an exhibition in the UCL Main Library, showcasing some of the most popular, and most recent, books published by them.

UCL Press exhibition

UCL Press was launched in 2015 as the UK’s first fully open access university press – and publishes all its books and journals open access. The Press recently surpassed 2.5 million downloads and its content has been accessed in every country of the world.

  • There are well over 100 books available free to download. In addition, affordable print books and e-books of each title are available.
  • UCL Press publishes 8 academic journals, covering a broad range of topics across the Social Sciences and Humanities, including the Journal of Bentham Studies. All of the Journal content is hosted on Science Open.
  • In 2019 the Press launched a brand new Open Access Journal, UCL Open Environment, focused on all aspects of environment-related research – from life and earth sciences, as well as medical, physical, engineering and social science. With immediate publication, and open peer review, the entire publishing process is transparent and accountable. Open Environment is also hosted on Science Open.
  • The Press’s content is also available on in our UCL Discovery repository.

Paul Ayris, Pro-Vice-Provost (UCL Library Services), was instrumental in setting up UCL Press in its current model. He said:

"UCL specializes in disruptive innovation and this is certainly a value embraced by the Press. UCL Press is blazing a new trail in the publication and impact which research monographs have when disseminated as Open Access outputs, amounting to a revolution in academic publishing patterns."

You can view the display until mid-February in the UCL Main Library exhibition space.
