Eastman Dental Library: moves in Summer 2019

The Eastman Dental Hospital (UCLH NHS Foundation Trust) will relocate to the Trust’s new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals in Huntley Street in autumn 2019. The UCL Eastman Dental Institute will also move, to the Rockefeller Building nearby.

These changes will necessitate the relocation of the UCL Eastman Dental Library, currently co-located with the Hospital and Institute on Gray’s Inn Road. Due to the unavailability of suitable additional space on the Bloomsbury campus the UCL Central Estates Strategy Board decided in July 2018 to accommodate the library within the existing Library Services estate. Following this decision, endorsed by the SLMS Estates Board, UCL Library Services are working on detailed plans and an associated service model that will incorporate the library within the UCL Cruciform Hub. This will ensure continuity of access to resources and professional staffed services for both UCL and UCLH staff and students, with enhanced outreach support. The consolidation of the libraries will require a reduction in print materials on site, with some held in store with a 24-hour delivery service to Bloomsbury. Library Services will endeavour to maintain a high quality service to our users, although there may be some disruption in summer 2019 while the collections are relocated.
