Short & Summer Courses

The UCL Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE) offers a range of summer schools and short courses to suit your language level, age, needs and aims. All summer schools are taught on campus by highly qualified UCL staff with expertise in teaching international students.
UCL Summer School students

UCL Summer School

This course is for you if:

  • You have completed at least one year of undergraduate study (by the start of the course)
  • You have an English language level of at least IELTS 6.5 or 7.0 (depending on the module)
  • You want to study a specific subject for academic credits

Pre-University Online Summer Course for High School Students

This course is for you if:

  • You are a high school student, in - or about to start - your second or final year of high school.
  • You will be 16 - 18 years old for the duration of the course.
  • English isn't your first language.
  • You do not hold an offer for the UCL Undergraduate Preparatory Certificates or a UCL degree.

Online English Course for International University Students

This course is for you if:

  • You are currently studying for an undergraduate degree (in a language other than English).
  • You are a non-native English speaker looking to develop your English language skills and get insight into British culture from home.
  • You are aged 17 years or above.
  • You have an IELTS score is between 5.0 and 7.5 (or equivalent).

Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)

This course is for you if:

  • You’re interested in learning to teach English.
  • You wish to gain an initial teaching qualification that is recognised worldwide.
  • You have some previous English language teaching experience or none at all.
