MS Teams 2 arriving Monday 11 March 2024

For users on Desktop@UCL and standalone / unmanaged devices the new Teams app will be deployed at the same time. You will be able to toggle back to classic Teams until the end of March on unmanaged devices when Microsoft plan to withdraw this version in stages. The toggle will disappear once Microsoft withdraw classic Teams.

Teams on Desktop@UCL Anywhere will be updated at a later date.

You will be unable to toggle back on Desktop@UCL as the classic client will be removed. If you try to toggle back a message will prompt you to install classic Teams, but you won't be able to do this. However, you will still be able to access classic Teams via a browser.

This change applies to all staff and students.

The new Microsoft Teams is billed as faster, simpler, more flexible, and smarter. All new features and capabilities, as well as enhancements to existing features, will be available exclusively in the new Teams. After March 2024 Microsoft will automatically be updating all users to new Teams.
