User stories feedback: Joshua Buckman, UCL Division of Psychology and Language Sciences

User story feedback on Research Facilitation. "They meet all our requirements."

Summary: The team (Joshua Buckman, John Cape, Rob Saunders) first contacted IT for SLMS Research Facilitator in May 2017 regarding secure storage of pseudonymised patient data from about 8 NHS Trusts. Jack Hindley, Information Governance Officer, and the facilitator had several meetings and maintained communication with the team through to 2018 to guide them on Information Governance requirements to achieve a level of assurance suitable for the team's research working with the Trusts, leading to acquiring project space on the Data Safe Haven which was provided in February 2018.

Feedback

July 2018

Q1. What is the title of your research project?

NCEL IAPT Research & Service Improvement network.

Q2. Briefly, what were the queries or requirements you contacted us research facilitators about?

We contacted the IT facilitators about the available data handling and storage options we have for a project involving clinical data, advice on data handling for anonymised, pseudonymised and identifiable data, and advice on information governance toolkits.

Q3. How far do you feel the applications / tools / services / advice we provided you with meet with your requirement?

The team were very responsive and knowledgeable, they've been a great help. The only suggestion would be that it might help to have more information available online about the data safe haven that we could have passed to the information governance leads of the NHS Trusts who's data we are seeking for this project.

Q4. If you were recommended tools or services (Research Data Services, Data Safe Haven, Information Governance etc.), how effective was our facilitation service in providing you information and getting your accounts?

They meet all our requirements.

Q5. What differences, if any, do the recommended IT tools / services make to your research work compared to before you used such tools / services?

The team facilitated our access efficiently.

Q6. What suggestions do you have for research IT service facilitators to improve on for a very similar request?

Access to the data safe haven has provided us with a secure area for data handling, storage and analysis which will improve our research output but also increases trust from the local services about our handling of their data.
