UCL IoO Researcher wins the 2022 Optica Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Recognition

Congratulations to Dr Danuta Sampson.

Dr Sampson is one of the winners of the 2022 Optica Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Recognition. Optica (formerly OSA), Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide, is the society dedicated to promoting the generation, application, archiving and dissemination of knowledge in the field.

This recognition acknowledges programs and accomplishments within our community that foster greater appreciation, advancement and celebration of diversity and inclusivity. Dr Sampson is recognised for her work in raising public awareness of vision impairment and creating opportunities to spark interest in and foster exploration of STEM by girls and children from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Dr Sampson said:

I am honoured to receive Optica Diversity & Inclusion recognition along with the inspiring Imrana Ashraf, Quaid-I-Azam University and Edmund Optics. In my case, this recognition highlights my and my friends’ work to build a more inclusive society through education.
