Biomedical Scientist 2 (Histopathology)

We are looking for an individual to join the Pathology team within the Pathology Unit at the IoO.
Job details
The successful candidate will work in all areas of the unit, carrying out a wide range of duties including specimen dissection, microtomy, cryotomy, tinctorial stains, cytology and ICC, plus an integral role with the QMS, UKAS assessment and ISO:15189 accreditation. There is also a large research workload within the unit, the successful candidate will need to liaise with researchers to assist in delivering publication standard research histology, using their own skills and knowledge to inform and guide the researchers as necessary.
The role is open-ended.
Key requirements
As an NSOPS laboratory our workload varies greatly and an ability to work as part of a team, under pressure, to deliver high quality, timely results is paramount. You must possess relevant work experience, preferably gained in a routine pathology environment. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information. You must be comfortable liaising with staff at all levels and with external clients and professional bodies. You will be IT literate, comfortable in a teaching role and able to work independently and autonomously where necessary.
