Dr Anthony Khawaja announced as UKRI Future Leader Fellow
16 October 2020
The UK Research and Innovation’s Future Leaders Fellowships support outstanding individuals across the UK research and innovation leaders of the future.
Dr Anthony Khawaja is senior research associate at UCL IOO and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. His research investigates the genetic and environmental epidemiology of glaucoma. His ultimate aim is to develop prediction models that can enable efficient population screening of glaucoma, and more personalised care of glaucoma patients in the clinic.
Dr Khawaja said:
“I am very much looking forward to starting my fellowship - now is such an exciting time to leverage genetics for personalised glaucoma care: genotyping has become so readily available and affordable, and at the same time we are discovering that genetic variation is the major cause for glaucoma.“
