IoO seeks Specialist Biomedical Scientist Cellular Pathology

We are seeking a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work in the Pathology Unit located at the Institute and provides diagnostic and research services in ophthalmic histopathology and cytopathology.

The department is one of 4 laboratories within England making up the National Specialist Ophthalmic Pathology Service (NSOPS).

As a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a diagnostic medical laboratory service which achieves the combined objectives of efficient and effective patient care within the Institute. They will work in all sections of the department, encompassing diagnostic work and support services, ensuring proper organisation and functioning of these sections, ensuring correct procedures and protocols are carried out.

The successful applicant will carry out a wide range of duties including routine histology/cytology preparations, immunohistochemistry, administrative duties, quality management systems duties, training and research, and manual handling.
