UCL IoO and Moorfields research team wins award for excellence in glaucoma care
17 December 2019
The LiGHT Study, which stands for Laser in Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension, involved over seven hundred participants and began in 2012.
The LiGHT trial team, led by Professor Gus Gazzard and based at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, have won an award from the International Glaucoma Association (IGA) for excellence in glaucoma care, following a nomination from a patient taking part in the trial.
The purpose of the LiGHT trial, which is now in the follow-up stage, is to compare the quality of life of patients who start treatment with medicines (eye-drops) to those who are first treated with selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT), and then receive drops later as necessary.
